Manual control mode is the default mode that allows you to manually control the belt speed and deck incline angle by manipulating the Speed (right) and Grade (left) paddles located at the front of the handrails just short of the console.

For more details, see Manual control mode [RUN].

RunFree mode

RunFree mode is a button-selected mode that allows you to run freely, naturally changing pace and stride without having to manually adjust the KICKR RUN's belt speed.  The KICKR RUN will automatically change the belt speed to keep you in the middle of the deck.

For more details, see RunFree mode [RUN].

Structured workout mode

Structured workout mode allows an app (presently the Wahoo app) automatically change KICKR RUN's belt speed and deck grade to match pace and grade targets in a structured running workout.  All pace changes must be confirmed by pressing the speed paddle forward when prompted.

For more details, see Structured workout mode [RUN].

Additional Features

Automatic leveling

When powered on, the KICKR RUN will automatically level the treadmill deck horizontally using the linear actuators (dynamic legs at the front of the treadmill used to control grade changes. This helps with uneven surfaces and to prevent the KICKR RUN from shifting while in use.

Terrain simulation mode

In order to reduce fatigue from repetitive motion and to better simulate the outdoor running experience, KICKR RUN is equipped with Terrain mode. When Terrain mode is enabled in the Wahoo app, the KICKR RUN can be set to adjust [1] the lateral tilt or [2] the lateral tilt and vertical grade of the treadmill deck by .5 degrees on 30 second intervals.  This very mild shift in position of the treadmill deck helps to change your foot contact patterns, simulating the slight differences in ground position and angle experienced when running outside, and mitigating the fatigue often produced by the repetitive contact of running on a traditional treadmill.
