Prepare the space
Ensure you have the correct power source and sufficient space to house and properly use the KICKR RUN. See Power and space requirements for KICKR RUN for details.
Connect to power
Connect the supplied 6 foot, 15 amp power cable to the KICKR RUN's power connection point at the front right of the treadmill (as you are standing on it) and then to the dedicated 15 amp power outlet.
Turn the unit on
Use the power switch located just below the the KICKR RUN's power connection point at the front right of the treadmill (as you are standing on it).
Install the safety key
The safety key consists of a clip tethered to a magnet. Attach the clip to your shirt or waistband. Then attach the magnet to the coordinating panel on the console. If the magnet is disconnected from the panel, the KICKR RUN will bring the belt to a complete stop if in use, or disable the control and prevent the belt from moving.
The safety key should always be attached to the user's shirt or waist band before starting the treadmill.
The safety key should always be stored separately from the KICKR RUN and out of reach of children when not in use.
Start in-app setup
Scan the QR code
Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on the left side of the console.
Download and install the Wahoo app
Scanning the code will prompt you to open the Wahoo app on your phone, or download the app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store and then open it.
The app will prompt you to login. If you do not have an account, you will need to create a free account. Once opened, the app will automatically pair the RUN and provide further prompts.
Connect to Wi-Fi
The app will prompt you to select a local Wi-Fi network and enter the corresponding password.
The KICKR RUN is compatible with 2.4GHz networks, channels 1-13. If a static Wi-Fi network is not available, a phone with a data connection can be used as a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot. The hotspot will have to be set to 2.4Ghz. (Most will default to 5Ghz.)
For more details about using KICKR RUN with Wi-Fi, see Using Wi-Fi with a KICKR trainer, BIKE, or RUN.
Update firmware
The app will then automatically check for a firmware update and the KICKR RUN will download and install the update. Setting up the KICKR RUN on your home Wi-Fi will allow the treadmill to complete over the air (OTA) firmware updates in the background as soon as they are available (provided the treadmill is powered on and not actively in use.
Select pace unit, training preferences, and pace zones
The app will prompt you to select your preferred unit of measure:
- Metric (min/km)
- Imperial (min/mi)
and then also provide some historical pace information to determine your pace zones for use with structured workouts. Setting up pace zones is optional in this process, but strongly suggested.
Video Guided Tour and user confirmation of safety and operational instructions
The app will provide a guided tour of safe and proper use of the KICKR RUN and prompt you to confirm that you have reviewed and understand the safety and operational instructions for the treadmill in full and will ensure that any future users of your KICKR RUN will review the safety and operational instructions as provided in the in-app Setup Guide.
Shipping mode
The KICKR RUN arrives in Shipping mode, with a max pace of 12 minutes / mile and RunFree mode disabled. In order to access the full functionality of the RUN, the primary user needs to fully complete the in-app setup process (including the confirmation of safety and operational instructions) above for the first time.
Re-enter the setup guide
If you leave the setup guide process for any reason, you can access it again in the Wahoo app by selecting Devices tab > KICKR RUN > Setup Guide.
We suggest that all users complete the in-app Setup Guide, as it provides the most complete presentation of the KICKR RUN experience.
