Use TRACKR RADAR with a Gen 2 ELEMNT GPS cycling computer [BOLT 2 or ROAM 2]

Pair a TRACKR RADAR

  1. Power on the TRACKR RADAR unit.

  2. Add a new sensor from the Ready to Ride screen or Settings/Sensors page.
  3. If the ELEMNT does not prompt you to pair the TRACKR RADAR, scroll down in the available sensors list. If there are a large number of sensors available, the sensor list will be divided by sensor type.  Radar units will appear under Other at the bottom of the list.
  4. Read and accept the safety warning statement.
  5. The TRACKR RADAR is paired.
  6. Select MORE to access TRACKR RADAR settings.

TRACKR RADAR Settings

Once your TRACKR RADAR is paired, additional settings (including mute) may be accessed by selecting the sensor from the Ready to Ride dashboard or the Sensors page.

On the computer

Connection / Battery status

The TRACKR RADAR will show as connected or not, and provide a battery level.

  • Good - battery > 20%
  • Low - battery < 20%

Alert Mode

Visual and audio alerts from the radar on the computer can be controlled independently. Toggle them using the middle front button.

  • ON - The radar will produce visual and audio alerts on the computer.
  • MUTE - Visual alerts (radar lane and color changing status bar) are ON, but audio alerts are muted / OFF.
  • OFF - Visual alerts and audio alerts on the computer are OFF.

Light Mode

The four light modes can be manually selected and the light can be turned off completely.

  • Off
  • High steady
  • Low steady
  • Low Flash
  • High Flash

Auto light

If enabled, the TRACKR RADAR will flash asymmetrically when a car is approaching, and continue to do so for the period of time selected (1, 5, or 10 seconds) and then return to the selected light mode variety.  If disabled, the currently selected light mode will perform as defined by the light mode.

  • OFF - Light mode performs as selected
  • 1S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 1 second
  • 5S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 5 seconds
  • 10S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 10 seconds

Bike Lights

From the Sensors page, one step out from the TRACKR RADAR sensor page, (not accessible from the Ready to Ride dashboard), you can manually turn off all ANT+ smart lights connected to the computer.

In the ELEMNT app

In the ELEMNT app > Settings tab > LEDs & Sound > Radar Alert Settings page, you can Mute or toggle off radar alerts on the computer entirely and select the side LEDs or left / right side of the screen for the 'car representation' (radar lane). This duplicates the Alerts settings on the computer described above.

As discussed above, the radar lane can be placed on either side of the computer's display, or assigned to the left LEDs.  Vehicles (or lights) will appear at the bottom of the screen as they are sensed and proceed upward toward the top of the display, indicating their approach to the rider.  As the vehicle appears on screen, the rider will be alerted by a change of radar lane color from green to orange or red, depending on the speed with which the vehicle is approaching.  Additionally, the status bar at the top of the computer will also flash the same color as the radar lane.

If the taillight is on, a small yellow light icon will appear at the top of the radar lane. If it is off, the icon is absent.

Remote manual light control

As described above, all lights connected to the computer can be turned on / off together from the Ready to Ride screen / Settings page.

Additionally, the TRACKR RADARs four light modes can be manually selected and the light can be turned off completely from the TRACKR RADAR's sensor page.

  • Off
  • High steady
  • Low steady
  • Low Flash
  • High Flash

Auto on / off

Finally, once paired, provided the TRACKR RADAR has charge, it will automatically turn on when a ride is started on the computer, and turn off when the ride is ended.

Note, this is different from the Garmin convention that will turn the light on/off with the computer.
