The Wahoo app uses Workout Profiles (collections of data pages and settings) that are preset for use with a given activity type, ex. Cycling, Running, Indoor Cycling, or Lap Swimming. Each activity has its own set of data pages with preset data fields that correspond to the activity being recorded. The app comes with 11 common workout profiles pre-loaded. You can access the list of workout profiles by selecting the Account icon at the top left corner of the Today tab, and then selecting the Workout profiles button on the Account page.
Today > Account > Workout profiles
Add a workout profile
You can add a workout profile by selecting the Add a workout profile button and then either Duplicate an existing workout profile from the quick access list (which will copy all of the settings from that existing profile), or add a New profile from the extended list of 48 templates.
Edit a workout profile's settings
Each workout profile comes with a preset configuration of settings based on the type of activity. If the workout profile is based on an outdoor activity, you can enable/disable the phone's GPS. Please note, disabling GPS will prevent the app from recording your progress on a map.
You can also toggle auto pause, auto lap, and a start countdown on and off. You can set auto lap to distance or time to the nearest whole integer in your preferred unit of measure (1 mile, kilometer, or minute). The countdown can be set to between 1 and 15 seconds.
Due to certain technological limitations of mobile phones, certain settings are not available for certain workout profiles, ex. no auto pause for Walking or auto lap for Lap swimming. Additionally, because workout profiles are used with ELEMNT computers linked to the account, certain workout profile settings are only available for ELEMNT computers.
Duplicate a workout profile
You can Duplicate a given workout profile by selecting the add icon from the Workout profiles page (See Add a workout profile above), or by selecting the workout profile you wish to duplicate and then selecting the ... (three dots) in the top right corner of the screen to open the edit menu and selecting Duplicate.
Customize a workout profile's pages or page data fields
With version 6.69 or newer, the Wahoo app will allow you [1] to customize (add, remove, reorder) the data pages that appear when recording an activity in the app for most workout profiles and [2] to customize most of the data fields on each page. This mirrors the experience of customizing workout profiles and pages for our Gen3 ELEMNT computers (ACE, BOLT v3, ROAM v3).
If you are an ELEMNT user, the changes you make to any given workout profile will be reflected on both your computer and in the Wahoo app's activity recorder. If you use both but wish to have a different experience between the two, we suggest creating duplicate workout profiles, and then renaming and customizing one.
For more details on duplicating a workout profile, see Customize workout profiles and pages [Wahoo App].
Create a 'bike profile' (or other case-specific workout profile)
When using workout profiles with the in-app activity recorder, only one sensor of a given type (speed, cadence, HR) can be selected as the data source for a given workout profile at any given time. If you have multiple bikes, and want to avoid having to de-select and re-select the 'right' sensor set for each bike, the easiest solution is to create duplicate workout profiles (see above) and rename them for the bike you want to use. You can then pair the sensors for that bike and select those sensors for that profile. Then, you only have to wake up those sensors (install your heart rate monitor, rotate your crank, spin your front wheel, etc) and select the correct 'bike profile' before riding.
This describes the behavior when using the in-app activity recorder. For more details of how workout profiles interact with ACE, BOLT 3, and ROAM 3, see Customize workout profiles and pages for ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3, or ROAM 3.
Reset a workout profile to its default settings
You can reset a workout profile to its default settings (including page configurations) by selecting the Edit ( ... ) button in the top right corner and selecting Reset to default and then confirming the reset by selecting Reset to default again.
Delete a workout profile
You can remove a workout profile from the quick access list by selecting the Edit (...) button in the top right corner and then selecting delete. You can always re-add it later. You can delete all workout profiles other than the General Workout profile. If you have an ELEMNT computer paired to the Wahoo app, the Cycling and Indoor Cycling workout profiles will be regenerated as they are required for use with the computers.
