Use Tymewear VitalPro Ventilation Sensor with ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3

When paired to a Tymewear VitalPro’s respiration sensor AND heart rate sensor separately, your ELEMNT computer is able to present the following data values while in ride:

  • Breathing Rate (BR) - as a per minute (averaged 60 second) value
  • Minute Ventilation (VE),smoothed on a 5 second interval, with or without current ventilation zone background color
  • Minute Ventilation (VE), smoothed on a 60 second interval, with or without current ventilation zone background color
  • Current Ventilation Zone, with or without the current zone background color
  • Time in Ventilation Zone 1
  • Time in Ventilation Zone 2
  • Time in Ventilation Zone 3
  • Time in Ventilation Zone 4
  • Time in Ventilation Zone 5
  • A proportional bar graph of time spent in each ventilation zone
  • Tidal Volume (Vt) - current, updated every second
  • Heart Rate data fields - all previously available HR options
r3-ventilationdatalive-r300.png blank320x10.png blank320x10.png

Breathing Rate, instantaneous Minute Ventilation, Tidal Volume, and heart rate data are written into the FIT file. Time spent in each ventilation zone is recorded as a summary value for each lap and a ride as a whole.

A simple, unlabeled proportional bar graph demonstrating the amount of time spent in each ventilation zone across the ride is shown in the completed ride summary on the ELEMNT.

Currently, no post-ride ventilation data summary exists in the Wahoo app History.  Tymewear supports ventilation analytics in the Tymewear app based on data transmitted in the FIT file when:

  • A Wahoo account is connected to a Tymewear account in the Tymewear web app at
dashboard.tymewear.com/integrationsor in the Tymewear phone app.

  • Completed rides recorded on an ELEMNT with ventilation data are synced to Tymewear via the Wahoo Cloud (via Bluetooth to Wahoo app and cell data to Cloud OR via Wi-Fi to Cloud direct)

The FIT from a ride must be synced for the Tymewear app to provide ventilation analysis.

Requirements

In ride

For data to be displayed on the computer and recorded in the FIT file, an activeBluetooth connection between your ELEMNT computer and the Gen2 Tymewear VitalPro breathing sensor AND Tymewearheart rate monitor must be maintained.

Post-ride review

To review ventilation data in the Tymewear app after a ride:

  • Ride data recorded on the ELEMNT computer must be synced via Wi-Fi or the Wahoo app to the Wahoo Cloud, and then on to the Tymewear app.  To accomplish this
    • A Wahoo > Tymewear Cloud account connection established in the Tymewear web app or phone app.  See dashboard.tymewear.com/integrations
    • Your ride must be synced to the Wahoo Cloud as normal via Wi-Fi or the Wahoo app.

Setup

  1. Set up your Tymewear VitalPro ventilation sensor with the Tymewear VitalPro app.

  2. Link your Wahoo account to your Tymewear account in the Tymewear web app at
dashboard.tymewear.com/integrations or using the Tymewear phone app using the flow below:

  1. Awaken the Tymewear VitalPro sensor.

  2. Pair your Tymewear VitalPro breathing sensor AND heart rate monitor with the ELEMNT computer.

    • ELEMNT > Ready To Ride > Pair Sensor

    • ELEMNT > Settings > Sensors > Pair Sensor

For more details see Pair a sensor to an ELEMNT ACE or ROAM 3 or Pair a sensor to an ELEMNT BOLT 3.

  1. Set your Tymewear Ventilation Zones in the Wahoo app based on your Tymewear threshold test and apply them to any relevant cycling workout profiles.
You can access the zones from either Devices tab > ELEMNT name > VitalPro Breathing > Ventilation zones OR Today > Account (profile image, top left) > Zones > Ventilation Zones

  1. Wear the Tymewear VitalPro sensor according to its placement guidelines and confirm it shows as connected on the ELEMNT and the selected data fields are showing data.

Use your Tymewear sensors

Before a ride

  1. Awaken the Tymewear VitalPro breathing sensor and heart rate monitor by installing them on your torso.

  2. Pair your Tymewear VitalPro breathing sensor AND heart rate monitor with the ELEMNT computer.

  3. Wear the Tymewear VitalPro sensor according to its placement guidelines and confirm it shows as connected on the ELEMNT and the selected data fields are showing data.

During a ride

Any of the selected data fields will appear as long as data as transmitting. Data values are only recorded to the FIT file while the computer is un-paused. Data transmitted during a pause will not be recorded to the FIT file.

Currently, no post-ride ventilation data summary exists in the Wahoo app.

Tymewear offers ventilation analytics in the Tymewear app. Ventilation data is recorded in the FIT file. FIT files of rides completed on ELEMNT must be synced to your Tymewear account for ventilation analysis in the Tymewear app/web platform when

  • A Wahoo account is connected to a Tymewear account in the Tymewear web app via
Tymewear Dashboard or in the Tymewear phone app (see Setup step #2).

  • Completed rides recorded on an ELEMNT with ventilation data are synced to Tymewear via the Wahoo Cloud (via Bluetooth to Wahoo app > cell data to Cloud OR via Wi-Fi to Cloud direct)

Notes

  • The Tymewear VitalPro consists of 2 separate sensors (Breathing + Heart Rate), paired to ELEMNT separately.

    • Tymewear Breathing sensor is BTLE only, BTLE multiperipheral 2x.

    • Tymewear HRM is BTLE and ANT+, BTLE multiperipheral 2x.

  • There is post ride data syncing from Wahoo > Tymewear cloud connection, established in the Tymewear web app (Tymewear Dashboard )

    • ELEMNT FIT files are required for the Tymewear app to provide ventilation analysis.

Troubleshooting

Tymewear VitalPro sensor doesn’t pair

  • Ensure that the Tymewear VitalPro sensors are awake and pairs to its own app.

  • Ensure your ELEMNT firmware is up to date on version 302533.

  • Restart your ELEMNT computer and re-attempt the pairing.

Ventilation data fields do not appear as an available data field in the Wahoo app.

  • Ensure your ELEMNT firmware and Wahoo app are up to date on versions 302533 and 6.86.0 respectively.

Ventilation data fields don’t appear on the data screen

  • Ensure you’ve selected the correct Workout Profile. Data fields are customized for each workout profile separately.

  • Ensure your ELEMNT firmware and Wahoo app are up to date on versions 302533 and 6.86.0 respectively.

Ventilation data fields show no data during a ride

  • Confirm the Tymewear VitalPro sensor is powered on, paired with the ELEMNT, and worn correctly

  • Check the Sensors menu on the ELEMNT to verify the Tymewear VitalPro shows as connected. If the sensor shows as disconnected, forget and re-pair.
