ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 can pair and control a single GoPro action camera via Bluetooth. A GoPro Control Page is added to the end of the page stack when a compatible GoPro camera is paired as a sensor.
Requirements
- An ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 or ROAM 3
- GoPro Hero 9, 10, 11*, 12, and 13
- *Hero 11 Mini is not compatible.
Setup
- Enable the GoPro Control page in the Wahoo app at Devices tab > Select your ELEMNT device > Workout profiles > Select your workout profile > Workout pages > GoPro control
- Pair the GoPro to the ELEMNT computer.
-
On the camera:
- Check directions by model from this list. The camera-side pairing process mirrors that of the Quik App.
- For best use, on the GoPro settings page, make sure that the control mode is set to 'PRO' instead of 'EASY'
-
Then, on your ELEMNT computer,
- Tap the left power button to access the Menu page.
- Use the front right button to scroll across to the Sensors page > Add
- Select the GoPro from the list of available sensors.
GoPro Control page
The GoPro Control page will be visible if a GoPro camera is connecting, actively connected or has been actively connected after a ride has been started, is added to the page stack, and will display:
- Recording time / photos remaining (based on SD card capacity)
- Camera battery status
- Currently selected camera mode: Video, Photo, Time lapse, and custom modes (based on camera mode presets)
- Toggled by using the left front button.
-

-
Photo

-
Time Lapse
- Duration of time laps currently recording OR
- Number of time lapse files captured
- A shutter button
- Actuated using the middle front button
- Will display red when recording
- Video / Time lapse - toggle recording on/off
- Photo - capture image
Sleep/standby/off and Reconnect
- When a GoPro is actively connected, you can put the camera in sleep/standby mode using the front right button or touchscreen (ACE and ROAM 3 only) when in the GoPro sensor settings, from the Sensors menu page.
- For Hero 9, 10, and 11 -- While asleep, either from Auto-Off, the SLEEP button on the ELEMNT or manually turning the GoPro off, you can waken/re-connect using the CONNECT button.
- Left power button > Sensors page > Select GoPro > Scroll down to Connect.
- If not previously connected during the ride, connecting the camera on the his button will also make the GoPro Control page visible again.
Due to a GoPro firmware limitation, if a Hero 12 goes to sleep/time out, the camera must be set into Quik App pairing mode again before attempting to use the CONNECT buttons on the ELEMNT.
Troubleshooting
Pairing/control connection issues
- The GoPro camera must be placed into pairing mode as described in this GoPro documentation, before pairing the camera on the ELEMNT device. The camera-side pairing process for ELEMNT device is the same as that of the Quik App. Failing to do so will result in a camera that appears to be paired, but will not properly connect.
- If the ELEMNT device is unpaired from your phone, GoPro will need to be forgotten from the ELEMNT device and re-paired to function properly.
- If a Hero 12 goes to sleep/time out, the camera must be set into pairing mode again before attempting to use the CONNECT buttons on the ELEMNT device.
- Ensure your ELEMNT device's firmware is up to date.
- Forget the GoPro, ensure that it is properly set in Quick App pairing mode, then re-add as a sensor on the ELEMNT device.
- If unresolved, reset Wireless Connections on the GoPro and try again.
