In addition to allowing you to see your current location and surroundings on the Map page, all ELEMNT GPS computers allow you to follow a route
- auto-generated by the ELEMNT app to a specific location (Take Me To...),
- created from a ride in your history (Create from history), or
- imported from a third party source (Sync from web or Import from file).
The ELEMNT app does NOT contain a route builder. To manually create a route, you will need to use a third party service like Komoot, RideWithGPS, or Strava.

- Current ELEMNT app version
- Current ELEMNT, BOLT, or ROAM firmware version
- Up to date maps for the region in which you are riding
- Data connection (cell data or Wi-Fi) for the device running the ELEMNT app
- Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi for ELEMNT (if bulk syncing routes)
Limitations
Turn by Turn directions
- on the ELEMNT and BOLT v1 are exclusively available through either
- the Take Me To... feature or
- on routes with the embedded cues created in RideWithGPS or Komoot.
- Routes imported from Strava do NOT contain turn by turn cues and ELEMNT / BOLT v1 do not generate them independently.
- on ROAM v1/v2 and BOLT v2 are available on routes from any source when using current firmware and maps, with the following limitations:
- Take Me To... turn by turn generation is limited to 100km
- Turn by turn directions are limited to 200km for route files that do not contain embedded cues.
- Route files will only have embedded cues when synced via Wi-Fi or via Bluetooth from RideWithGPS or Komoot.
- ROAM v1/v2 and BOLT v2 auto-generate Turn by Turn cues for route files that do not contain them, up to 200km (~120 mi).
Take me to...
You can auto-generate a route in the ELEMNT app to any location within 100 km / 60 miles by searching or selecting a location on the map screen.
In the ELEMNT app for iOS, select
- Workout > Routes > (+) > Take Me To... > Search / Select a location on the map > Select Route
In the ELEMNT app for Android, select
- Workout > Choose a route > (+) > Take me to... > Search / Select a location on the map > Right turn arrow button
Create a route from history
You can create a route to sync to your ELEMNT, BOLT, or ROAM from your ride history in the ELEMNT app. See Create a Route from History [ELEMNT].
Once created, you can also share the route to other riders. See Share a route using the ELEMNT app.
Import a route from a third party service / a route file
You can link/import your route library from a 3rd party service like Komoot, RideWithGPS, or Strava and then sync all of your routes via Wi-Fi or a single route via Bluetooth or import a single route into the ELEMNT app from a file downloaded to your mobile device and opened in the ELEMNT app, and then sync that via Bluetooth.
