There are two ways to import a route or group of routes from an external source (either a third party app/service like Komoot, RideWithGPS, Strava, TrailForks) or another person. The first is linking your third party app account (ex Strava) to your Wahoo account via the ELEMNT app. You can then sync all routes linked to that account in bulk to your computer via Wi-Fi or one at a time, via Bluetooth.
You can also temporarily share a route. For more details see Share a route [ELEMNT]

Sync a route / all your routes from a 3rd party service (Komoot, RideWithGPS, Strava, TrailForks, etc) by linking accounts
Link your 3rd party app account to your Wahoo account in the ELEMNT app
- Authorize Komoot, RideWithGPS, Strava, or Trailforks in the ELEMNT app > Profile tab > Authorized Apps
For more details see Authorize a 3rd party app for route sync or completed ride upload [ELEMNT] then...
Sync your complete 3rd party app route library via Wi-Fi
- Connect the ELEMNT to a Wi-Fi network
- Navigate on the ELEMNT to Maps > Routes (or ... > Routes) > and select SYNC
- All routes linked to your account in any authorized 3rd party app will sync to the ELEMNT computer.
For more details, see Sync / Download Routes to ELEMNT. OR...
Sync a single route from a 3rd party account
With the ELEMNT connected to the ELEMNT app, in the ELEMNT app
- Navigate to the Workout tab > Routes / Choose a route > select the desired route > Select Select Route.
- The selected route will sync to your ELEMNT and loaded for immediate use.
For more details see Sync / Download Routes to ELEMNT.
Import a single route by downloading a route file on your phone and opening the file in the ELEMNT app
Ensure your ELEMNT is connected to the ELEMNT app
1. Download the file
- Download the .GPX, .TCX or .FIT file on to your mobile device (from a 3rd party app, race promoter, friend via text or email)
2. Import the file
- Locate the file in your phone's downloads folder and open it.
- When asked which app to use to open the file, select ELEMNT
- Open the file into the ELEMNT app.
This will import the route into your Wahoo account. You can then load the route onto your ELEMNT computer for immediate use. Also, because it is now imported into your Wahoo account, it will remain linked there until you delete it. If you sync your routes in the future, it will be synced to the computer for future use, until you delete it.
Delete a route
3rd-party-account-linked routes (Routes synced from a 3rd party)
Linking your 3rd party app/service to your Wahoo account uploads all routes associated with that 3rd party service to your Wahoo account:
- Komoot: All planned tours
- RideWithGPS: All pinned routes + routes you have created
- Strava: All starred routes
- Trailforks: Routes, Rideplans (user-created routes), and Ridelogs as found in the "My Wishlist Routes" tab of the Trailforks mobile app.
All 3rd party linked routes are managed in the 3rd party app/account. Until a route is disassociated from that account, it will appear in your Routes list in the ELEMNT app. If your sync/download your route library to your ELEMNT, all of those routes will appear on your ELEMNT until you sync it again, at which point, it will reflect the routes associated with your account at that time.
In order to 'delete' a route linked to a 3rd party account from the ELEMNT app/your ELEMNT computer, you would have to delete that route (or un-pin / un-star it, etc) in the 3rd party account. For Steps to do that, see:
Delete a route you created in RideWithGPS
Un-star / Un-save routes in Strava
Delete a race plan in BestBikeSplit
Route imported from a file / created in the ELEMNT app
Different from routes linked to a 3rd party account (Komoot, RideWithGPS, Strava), routes you import from a file are linked to/controlled by your Wahoo account. Regardless of the source, if a route is downloaded as a file and imported into the ELEMNT app via the single file import process, the route created in your Wahoo account/ELEMNT app/ELEMNT computer is managed via your Wahoo account in the ELEMNT app.
You can delete these routes by swiping left on the route in the ELEMNT app.
Workout tab > Routes/Choose a route > select the route > swipe left
The route will remain on your ELEMNT computer until your firmware/routes/planned workouts are synced again via Wi-Fi.
