Wake TRACKR HEART RATE for first use
To wake the sensor for first use, connect the sensor to its charging cable and a power source. In order to extend the life of the rechargeable battery and prevent battery drain in shipping and shelf time in the warehouse or at a store, the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor is set in a low-power "shipping" mode at the factory. The sensor will be unresponsive until connected to its charger and a power source for the first time.
LED Indicators
Pairing
- Blue LED slow flash: sensor is awake and searching for a connection
- Blue LED quick flash: connecting to a device
- Blue LED solid: connected to the device
LED operation shuts off 30 seconds after waking to conserve battery.
Charging
When connected to a power source, the LED flashes to indicate battery level while the TRACKR HEART RATE is charging. Charging status can also be checked with the Wahoo app or on your ELEMNT device.
- Red LED flash: 0-25%
- Orange LED flash: 25-50%
- Green LED flash: 50-99%
- Green LED solid: Fully Charged
Low Battery Indicator
When not connected to a power source and the battery level is below 25%, the LED will flash to indicate a low battery state.
- Orange LED flash 3x: 5-25%
- Red LED flash for 2 seconds: 0-5%
Below 5%, the pod will shut down. If powered on below 5%, the LED will flash red for 2 seconds, then shut down again.
How to wear TRACKR HEART RATE
The TRACKR HEART RATE sensor is best installed centered at the base of the sternum, just below the pectoral muscles. To ensure the most accurate readings, in cold or particularly dry environments, slightly moisten the skin contact pads on the inside of the strap, and then place the unit directly on the skin. In order to prevent loss of conductivity / necessary skin contact, avoid putting any clothing between the strap and your body.
Using TRACKR HEART RATE
After waking the TRACKR HEART RATE monitor for first use, if the sensor is charged, simply installing it on your chest will wake the sensor, reading and broadcasting beats per minute and heart rate variability (HRV*) data to any paired recording apps/devices, like the Wahoo app, (our free running, cycling and for iOS or Android), or an ELEMNT GPS cycling computer.
The Wahoo app/Wahoo GPS cycling computers do not currently support HRV recording/display. HRV display/recording requires a compatible app/device.
To pair the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor to the Wahoo app, see here.
To pair the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor to an ELEMNT computer, see here.
To pair the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor to a third party app or device, see that app/device's instructions for sensor pairing.
After you are done using the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor, simply remove it from your body and hang it to dry. Within 1-2 minutes, the sensor will 'turn off' into a low power standby mode, ready to connect when it next senses electrical current through the contact pads. If you wish to ensure the sensor transitions to standby mode even more quickly, you can detach one side of the pod from the strap to break the circuit.
Care and Storage
In order to ensure the longevity of the heart rate monitor and strap, the TRACKR HEART RATE sensor pod should be removed before gently hand-washing the strap in warm water. The strap should NOT be machine-washed. The strap can be rinsed in warm water without the pod between washes to help remove salt deposits from the skin contact pads to ensure optimal conductivity.
The sensor pod should be thoroughly dry before attaching the charging cable.
Because the unit will enter a low power standby mode in 1-2 minutes after detecting no electrical signals from the skin contact pads, the sensor can be stored fully attached to the strap. If put away while the skin contact pads are still damp, this can occasionally create a false positive for conductivity, resulting in a delay of the sensor entering low power standby mode. This can be prevented by disconnecting the sensor from one of the snap rivets on the strap, breaking the circuit.
As with most lithium ion batteries, in order to optimize battery life, the unit should be stored long-term with at least 30% charge.
Troubleshooting
If the sensor is unresponsive (no LEDs)...
Before first use --
- Wake the sensor for first use by connecting the sensor to its charging cable and a power source. Then moisten the skin contact pads and install snugly on your chest, centered on the base of your sternum, below your pectoral muscles.
Any other time --
- Moisten the skin contact pads and install snugly on your chest, centered on the base of your sternum, below your pectoral muscles.
- If unresolved, connect the sensor to its charging cable and a power source.
- If unresolved, gently wipe the the contacts of the sensor and sensor-end of the charging cable with a dry cloth or use compressed air to ensure they are free of debris.
- If unresolved, try another confirmed functional power source (charging block).
- If unresolved, try another compatible charging cable.
- If unresolved/unavailable, contact our support team with
- a description of the issue and what you've tried,
- your proof of purchase or Wahoo order number,
- your contact phone number
- your email address, and
- your preferred shipping address
If the sensor isn't charging...
- Gently clean the contacts of the sensor and sensor-end of the charging cable with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and fully dry them before trying again.
If you aren't seeing heart rate data in your app / on your GPS cycling computer...
- Moisten the skin contact pads and ensure the sensor is installed snugly on your chest, centered on the base of your sternum, below your pectoral muscles.
- Confirm the sensor has an LED response to being installed. If not, see If the sensor is unresponsive (no LEDs)...
- If the unit is responsive, ensure that your TRACKR HEART RATE is paired to the app / GPS cycling computer you are using (and if your app / computers allows data source selection, like in the Wahoo app) select the TRACKR HEART RATE as the source for heart rate data for that activity's profile.
- If unresolved, delete and re-pair the sensor to your app or GPS cycling computer.
- If unresolved, try turning off your cycling computer or phone and in the process, toggling off your bluetooth for more than 10 seconds using your phone's system bluetooth settings.
