ACE, BOLT 3, and ROAM 3 support file transfer via MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) - a USB standard used by many cameras, MP3 players, and Android phones. With your device powered on (not just charging), you can connect an ACE, BOLT 3, or ROAM 3 to your computer via a USB data cable to transfer route files (in .GPX or .TCX format), recorded activities (.FIT format), or planned workouts (.FIT format).
Note: Please make sure you are using a USB data cable, as many USB cables only provide charging functionality.
USB access disabled by default
To secure your potentially sensitive personal data, USB access to ACE, BOLT 3, and ROAM 3 computers is disabled by default. To enable USB access, navigate in the Wahoo app to the Devices tab > [Your Device] > Settings and toggle the USB access options on at the bottom.
Note: To access completed activities, both "Allow USB access" and "Allow .FIT file access" must be enabled.
Windows
Once USB access is enabled, ACE, BOLT 3, or ROAM 3 will automatically show up in Windows Explorer, and you can browse and transfer files similar to any other USB flash device.
Note: It may be necessary to copy files onto a PC before uploading to applications like Golden Cheetah; uploads directly from USB may fail.
Apple Mac (MacOS)
When using MacOS, an MTP client app is required to copy files from an ELEMNT computer.
Linux
Support for MTP is available via libmtp, which is generally included with popular desktop Linux distributions. On some systems, ELEMNT, BOLT, or ROAM may also appear on your Linux desktop's file manager.
File locations
On the ACE, BOLT 3, or ROAM 3, completed rides are stored in the exports folder, structured ("planned") workouts are stored in the plans folder, and routes are stored in the routes folder.
Manually export completed rides
In the case that you are unable to sync a completed ride from your ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3, or ROAM 3 to your Wahoo account via the Wahoo app or Wi-Fi, your completed rides can be copied from the exports folder and pasted onto your computer, for analysis and manual sharing with third party apps.
Manually import routes and structured workouts
Route or structured workout files can also be manually imported into their respective folders for use on your ELEMNT computer.
Manually imported files are only accessible from the ELEMNT computer, and cannot be backed up, or managed in the Wahoo app. For this reason, we instead suggest using cloud sync functions to load routes and planned workouts.
