Mount an ELEMNT ROAM 3 or BOLT 3

ELEMNT BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 computers each ship with the same high density plastic out front mount for 31.8mm round bars, a classic Wahoo stem mount with a pair of zip ties, and a security tether.

The stock out front mount, made for 31.8mm round bars, accommodates both ROAM 3 and BOLT 3. Use a 3mm hex key / allen wrench to free the clamp bolt, place the mount around the bars to the left of the stem, orient the mount to your preferred angle, and then gently tighten the bolt to snug. Due to the low weight of the computer, minimal torque is necessary and over-torquing can strip the threads.

Alternately, you can use the provided Wahoo stem mount to secure the stem mount to either stem or handlebars. Orient the mount so the Wahoo logo can be read while riding the bike and insert the zip ties vertically, horizontally, or in an X pattern through the holes in the mount. Snug the zip ties and remove the excess.

Other Wahoo mounts

All Wahoo computers use the standard Wahoo computer mount type.  BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 are slightly longer and narrower than their respective predecessors.  Unlike previous BOLT and ROAM models which had an integrated aero flange, the bottom of the BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 units are entirely flat.  This means that they are largely compatible with legacy ELEMNT mounts, but may not line up cosmetically with legacy mounts.

BOLT 3 is compatible with the stock BOLT 2 mounts, but not the BOLT 1 mounts, as the BOLT 1 was a shorter computer, and so there is insufficient clearance for the longer BOLT 3.

ROAM 3 is compatible with stock ROAM 1 and 2 mounts, but the bottom edge of the ROAM 3 is slightly narrower than the edge of the legacy ROAM mounts.

Both computers will fit on the original ELEMNT mount and the Aerobar/TT Mount for ELEMNT Bike Computers.  Both computers will fit on an ACE mount, but will be narrower than the mount.

Because of their aero flange, legacy BOLT or ROAM computers will not fit on the BOLT 3/ROAM 3 out front mount.

Third party mounts

As stated above, all Wahoo computers use the standard Wahoo computer mount type.  BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 are slightly longer and narrower than their respective predecessors.  The bottom of the BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 units are entirely flat and so are largely compatible with legacy ELEMNT mounts*, but may not fully line up cosmetically with legacy mounts.

*excluding BOLT 1 specific mounts

Wahoo computers are not compatible with Garmin mounts, as the tabs of Wahoo mount points are oriented at 90* to and thicker than those of Garmin computers.  Because of the tab thickness, even if a Garmin mounting puck is re-oriented by 90*, use of a Garmin mount will cause damage to the Wahoo computer mount. Damage caused by using a Garmin mount is not supported by the product warranty.

If you would like to confirm if a BOLT 3 or ROAM 3 is compatible with your existing computer mount, we suggest visiting a local Wahoo retailer in your area to check.  You can identify them using the dealer locator on our site.

Compatible third party mounts for other bar diameters or mounting configurations (top cap, alt stem, etc) can be found from Framesandgear, K-Edge, and KOM Cycling, among others.

Installing the ELEMNT  into the mount

Once your preferred mount is installed on the bars or stem, place the ELEMNT with the top between 9 and 10 of the clock relative to the direction of the bike, gently push downward, and rotate the computer clock-wise until it snaps firmly into place.

Installing the tether

The tether is made up of two closed loops.
The smaller loop should be inserted into a cavity in the left side of the bottom of the computer, looped around the bar in that cavity and pulled out the other side.
The larger loop should then be inserted into the smaller loop, securing the tether.
The tether can then be looped around the out front mount, stem, or handlebars, and the computer inserted through the tether to secure the computer.
