KICKR SNAP 12x142 Thru Axle Adapter Information and Setup

KICKR SNAP 12x142 Thru Axle Adapter

Product Information

The KICKR 142 Adapter is a conversion kit designed to enable mountain bikes of the 12x142mm size to be secured to the KICKR SNAP.

NOTE: The KICKR SNAP is not compatible with the through axle itself; instead, this adapter kit is used to secure the bike in place. This is for 12x142mm bikes only. Not compatible with 12x135, 12x150, or any other through axle system.

Adapter Kit Components

  • M12 x 1.0 Fine Adapter
  • M12 x 1.5 Medium Adapter
  • M12 x 1.75 Coarse Adapter
  • SNAP Frame Thru Axle Replacement End Cap
  • Conical washer (for Syntace X-12 thru axles, used by many bike models including from 3T, Cannondale, Canyon, Intense, Specialized and others)

Setup

  1. Remove the SNAP's original drive side frame end cap using a 2.5mm hex key (Allen wrench)
  2. Slide the SNAP Frame Thru Axle Replacement End Cap onto the KICKR SNAP
  3. Tighten the SNAP Frame Thru Axle Replacement End Cap with a 2.5mm allen wrench until you feel the screw make contact.  Do not overtighten. This is not a structural screw.
  4. Examine your bike's existing thru axle and match its thread pitch to one of the three provided thru axle adapters -- this is the one you'll use on your SNAP.
    • If the head of your bike's stock thru axle is conical, slide the conical washer onto the matching adapter thru axle before inserting it into your frame.
  5. Insert the adapter thru axle into your non-drive side dropout and gently thread it by hand until it stops (as you would your stock thru axle).
    • If you feel extra resistance, STOP, and review the troubleshooting notes below.
  6. Use a 6mm hex key to tighten down the adapter thru axle to your bike manufacturer's specified torque.

Congrats! You are now ready to install the bike onto your SNAP!

Troubleshooting

  • Double check the thread pitch specification of your bicycle from the manufacturer's specifications sheet or the label on the bicycle's stock thru axle (if present).
  • Confirm that your bicycle does not exhibit any of the common incompatibilities described in this article: Thru Axle Compatibility Issues [SNAP].
  • Check adapter thru axle for thread damage.
  • If the thru axle will not thread fully into the bicycle frame as normal, try gently threading the thru axle in reverse from the outside of the drive side of the frame to check for obstructions.
    • If the thru axle will not thread in from this side, visually check to confirm that the the design of the bike frame is not preventing the thru axle from threading through. If it is obstructed, the bicycle may not be compatible with the adapter kit.

Product Care Information
