This article applies to KICKR, MOVE, CORE, and SNAP trainers. Links on this page will open into new tabs to ensure you do not lose your place in the troubleshooting flow.
1. Confirm you are using the power adapter provided with the Wahoo trainer, or an authorized replacement from Wahoo.
KICKR and other Wahoo smart trainers require the use of a Wahoo branded power adapter specifically for trainers (different from CLIMB or our KICKR BIKEs), which provides the precise output voltage and amperage for our trainers. Using the power adapter for a different brand device or trainer can result in irreparable damage to the CORE.
All new Wahoo trainers ship with a 12V 5A power adapter labeled Wahoo Switching Adapter.
Replacements are available for sale on our website.
2. Check for the green light on the power adapter.
If the power adapter is receiving power, the green light on the adapter will be illuminated.
If the light is not illuminated
- Double check the connection between
- the wall and the adapter cord
- the adapter cord and the power adapter
- the power adapter and the CORE
- Try a different power outlet after confirming power to that outlet using a lamp or similar.
- If the power adapter light is still not illuminated with a confirmed functional outlet, replacements are available for sale on our website. Alternately, if you have purchased your trainer from an authorized retailer within the last year, please reach out to our support team.
If the light is illuminated
3. Check for the red/blue lights on the trainer.
If the lights on the trainer are not illuminated, did you use a power adapter from another Wahoo or 3rd party product?
If so
Please reach out to our support team, and we can review your replacement options.
If not
4. Wiggle the power adapter - trainer connection point
Occasionally a power connection in can work its way loose from normal use (or pulled when someone kicks the power adapter in passing). Adjusting the position of the dongle will sometimes confirm this loose connection.
Does adjusting the position of the power dongle cause the trainer to light up?
In either case, please reach out to our support team, and we can review your replacement options. Knowing if the cause of the issue is in the power adapter > trainer connection will be helpful to us.
