Knocking / creaking / popping sounds that occur in regular intervals
-
Check to ensure feet are leveled and making contact with the floor: Eliminate any possible noise from the unit tilting from side to side on feet which aren’t fully deployed.
-
Check pedals + spacers: Certain pedals require the included spacer, otherwise they may scrape the frame. Since we’ve seen other issues with pedals as well, swapping the pedals for another set and seeing if the problem persists allows us to isolate the issue.
- Check the crank for play: Typically you can feel if there’s any play (looseness) in the crank while turning it and applying weight. If there’s noticeable play in the crank, it’s a clear indicator that tightening is needed following the steps below
Tighten the preload on KICKR BIKE Crank arms:
- Using a 5mm hex wrench, loosen the two pinch bolts on either side of the non-drive side crank arm where it meets the spindle of the crank.
- Insert the 5mm hex wrench into the end of the fixing bolt for the crank arm and lightly tighten to 3 Nm. This bolt is generally tight enough when no play can be detected while wiggling the crank by hand while hand tightening the fixing bolt.
- Lastly, tighten the pinch bolts down to 14-16nm.
Other Noises
Other noises can be addressed by taking the steps laid out in the KICKR BIKE Maintenance Guide.
