ELEMNT ACE can pair with rear view radar systems (like the Garmin Varia or Trek CarBack) following the same pairing procedure as any other Bluetooth or ANT+ sensor.

Requirements
- ELEMNT ACE, updated to current firmware
- If using the first generation Garmin Varia, it must be also be updated to the newest firmware.
Pairing ANT+ Radar

Turn on or waken the radar unit.
- Add a new sensor from the from the Ready to Ride sensor tray or the Sensors page (accessed by tapping the power button once and swiping left).
- If the ACE does not prompt you to the radar, scroll down in the available sensors list. If there are a large number of sensors available, the sensor list will be divided by sensor type. Radar units will appear under Other at the bottom of the list.
- Read and accept the safety warning statement.

Radar Settings On ELEMNT ACE
Once your ANT+ radar is paired, additional settings (including mute) may be accessed by selecting the sensor from the Ready to Ride sensor tray or the Sensors page accessed by tapping the power button once and swiping left.
Status
Shows as connected or not, and provides battery level.
- Good - battery > 20%
- Low - batter < 20%
Alerts
- ON - Radar and visual and audio alerts are ON.
- MUTE - Radar and visual alerts (radar lane) are ON, but audio alerts are muted / OFF.
- OFF - Radar function is turned off, removing visual alerts (radar lane) and audio alerts OFF.
Auto light
If enabled, (and the radar has a tail light) the light will flash asymmetrically when a car is approaching, and continue to do so for the period of time selected (1, 5, or 10 seconds) and then return to the selected light mode variety. If disabled, the currently selected light mode will perform as defined by the light mode.
- OFF - Light performs as selected
- 1S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 1 second
- 5S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 5 seconds
- 10S - Light flashes as car is approaching + 10 seconds
Radar Lane
- LEFT - Radar lane / car track appears on the left side of display
- RIGHT - Radar lane / car track appears on the right side of display
Light Mode
Dependent upon the radar's available preset light settings.
Varia Radar performance specifications (as defined by Garmin)

The radar detects approaching vehicles up to 140m (153 yards) away.

The approaching vehicle speed must be from 10 to 160 km/h (from 6 to 99 mph).

NOTE: The radar does not detect vehicles traveling at the same speed as your bike.

The radar beam width is 40 degrees. It provides radar coverage for typical bends in the road.

The radar can detect up to eight approaching vehicles.

The vehicle position moves up the column as a vehicle gets closer to your bike. The threat level changes color based on the potential level of threat.
- Green indicates no vehicle is detected.
- Amber indicates a vehicle is approaching.

Red indicates a vehicle is advancing at a high rate of speed.

A fast vehicle is detected (any vehicle faster than 90km/h (55mph) relative to the bike or any vehicle significantly faster than the average vehicle speed).

A slow-moving cyclist is being tracked behind you and a new vehicle is detected in the distance.
