Upload and share a completed ride from ELEMNT ACE

Once a ride is ended (and thus saved) on ELEMNT ACE, it can be uploaded to the Wahoo app / Wahoo Cloud activity history one of two ways:

  1. via Bluetooth to the Wahoo app
  2. via Wi-Fi directly to the Wahoo Cloud

Once uploaded to the Wahoo app/Cloud activity history, it can be shared to a third party app partner, either automatically, or manually.  When/how it is shared will differ on how the third party app is connected to the Wahoo app / your Wahoo account. Some of the most popular app partners can be connected by authorizing their connection to the Wahoo app in Wahoo app Settings.  Others can be connected by linking your Wahoo account in the partner's app or web interface.

Uploading a completed ride to the Wahoo app / Wahoo Cloud

Via Bluetooth the Wahoo app

Requires:

  • an active Bluetooth connection between the ELEMNT ACE and the Wahoo app
  • an active internet/data connection for your phone/tablet to connect the Wahoo app to the Wahoo Cloud server

In the Wahoo app,

  1. Navigate to the Devices tab and confirm the ELEMNT ACE is connected.
  2. Navigate to the History tab.
  3. Press the upper third of the screen and drag downward to force sync any recorded but not yet uploaded rides. A spinning arrow icon will appear and any rides that have not yet been uploaded/synced will sync.  Sync time will differ depending on the size of the ride file (longer distance, more sensors, etc will take longer).
  4. Once synced, completed rides will auto-share from the Cloud to 3rd party apps with auto-sharing enabled.

Via Wi-Fi to the Wahoo Cloud

  • an active connection between the ELEMNT ACE and a saved Wi-Fi network
  • an active internet/data connection for your phone/tablet to connect the Wahoo app to the Wahoo Cloud server (in order to see the ride in the app)

On the ELEMNT ACE,

  • Ensure you are in range of a Wi-Fi network saved to the ACE.
  • From the Ready to Ride page, select Workouts.
  • Select Sync, by pressing the middle front button.
    • This will sync all completed ride data, routes, and planned workouts between the computer and your Wahoo Cloud account, and download any available firmware updates.
    • Once synced, completed rides will auto-share from the Cloud to 3rd party apps with auto-sharing enabled.

Sharing a completed ride with a third party app partner

Auto-sharing

All third party apps authorized in the Wahoo app can be toggled to auto-share a .FIT file of an activity when it is completed in the Wahoo app or uploaded to the Wahoo app from the ELEMNT ACE.  Auto-sharing is toggled off by default.

This is enabled in Settings > Authorized apps > chosen app

All third party apps authorized in the partner app / web interface are automatically shared to the third party partner when an activity is uploaded to the Wahoo Cloud.  Because the app connection is controlled in the third party app interface, auto-upload cannot be toggled off.

Manual sharing

If auto-sharing has not been enabled for a third party service (auto-sharing is set to off by default), or if an activity is completed while the app is does not have an internet connection, you can manually share an activity by:

  1. Navigating to the History tab of the Wahoo app.
  2. Locating the activity from among the activities in the reverse chronological order of the History tab.  You can use the filters to shorten the list.
  3. Select the three dots in the upper right corner of the activity's summary panel.
  4. Select Sharing.
  5. Select Share next to the app partner you wish to share the activity file to.

Troubleshooting

Deauthorize / Reauthorize an app

If a workout is not automatically sharing to a 3rd party app that you have authorized and will not if you attempt to manually re-share, the first step to resolving this should be to deauthorize and reauthorize the app to reset the connection between Wahoo and the app.

For apps authorized in the Wahoo app

Navigate to the app, select the down arrow to the right to expand the section, and then select Deauthorize

The app should return to the Available apps list, where you can select it and reauthorize it.

For apps authorized in the partner app / web interface

Because the authorization process will differ between app partners, we suggest reviewing the app partner's interface, support documentation, and consulting their support team for how best to disconnect/reconnect your Wahoo account.

If an app will still not upload a workout after deauthorizing and reauthorizing a third party app, please submit a support request.
