No, the ELEMNT MINI does not require users to have their phone with them to record data. With that being said, for certain enhanced features you will need your phone and to have the ELEMNT MINI paired to the ELEMNT Companion App in order to:
- Have full ride GPS History
- Live Tracking
- Receive call and text notification
- Automatic post ride data uploading to 3rd party sites
