Original KICKR Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing any issues with your KICKR, try the following steps one at a time and see if the issue is resolved. These steps only apply to the Original KICKR, for New KICKR steps, click HERE

  • Make sure the unit is plugged in to a power source, the connection to the power brick is secure, and green light on the power brick is lit.

Perform a Spindown

  • Pair the KICKR up to the Wahoo Fitness app. (iOS and Android Pairing Instructions)
  • Make sure your firmware is up to date. (iOS and Android Firmware Update Instructions)
  • Perform a spindown. (Spindown Instructions)
  • Please record the results of the spindown (Temperature, Time, and Offset).

Additional Steps

  • Close all apps capable of connecting to the KICKR. Most apps are capable of running in the background on the device and continuing to have a connection to the KICKR. This will prevent other apps from connecting or cause conflicting commands to be sent.
  • Check the black & white decal on the side of the large pulley wheel for any signs of wear. If you see any wear, please send a picture highlighting the problem areas. (Inspect Decal Instructions)
  • Clean the KICKR optical sensor. (Cleaning Instructions)

Perform an Advanced Spindown

Performing an Advanced Spindown on the Old KICKR will remove the strain gauge from the power reading loop and will determine power by using the KICKR's electronic brake.  This is the same formula for reading power on the New KICKR.
